Day 25: Rest Day in Butte

Rest days are such a misnomer...  We haven't really rested on our rest days because there's always so much to do.  We checked out of the Days Inn after having bought a bunch of stuff at the Outdoorsman, and had to ride our bikes all around Butte because there was no way that we were going to leave them at one of the city parks while we hung out at the National Folk Festival, which Butte was hosting for its third and final year.

We hung out at the public library for a couple of hours and updated our lives via the Internet.  Then we walked/biked around, listening to music and answering dozens of questions about where we were going...  I swear, if it weren't for Kathy S. and all the good morals she's taught me, I'd be making up all sorts of stories about what Nate and I were doing.  "Oh, we're on work release, and we stole these bikes" or "I just met Nate in Vegas last week, got married, and now we're on our honeymoon" or "We just got off the train from Hawaii and we're looking for the bridge to Japan."

Here's a picture of the mining derrick in Butte that Nate took from the park we camped in:
